On a winter's evening as Mártan is returning home from school he sees a big ram in the middle of town. Following the ram, comes upon the Professor's garden, and hears the sweet sounds of whistle-playing. But whose ram is it? And what brings it to the Professor's garden? And who is the poor musician who is looking for his tin whistle?
Mártan befriends a freckled-faced girl who brings him to see a mysterious blacksmith in his smithy, and introduces him to a beautiful red-haired singer. But what troubles are Red-Haired Woman and her daughter running from? And who is the Blacksmith whose smithy is hidden behind the garage?
The Grey Witch is hungry. She's fed up of magical rabbits and poisonous apples. And there's nothing to eat in the house! But what happpens to her when she comes upon a house made of chocolate?

Luisne is very inquisitive about the World of People or 'The World on Top. There are secret ways to go from the World of the Sí to the World on Top but this secret information isn't shared with the young fairies! But, cleverly, Luisne finds one of the secret ways and she secretly goes to the World on Top with her friend Deirdre. Although they see wonderful things, their pklans don't quite work out ... and the're soon in deep trouble!
